Roulette is the oldest casino game played across the world. It is also one of the simpler games to play because there is no real strategy involved in winning a game. It relies a lot on luck. In Roulette, the primary objective is to pick a number that you think will appear on the wheel when it is spun. At the same time, you can also bet on number combinations, or on the color, or on even or odd numbers.
There are two basic variants of Roulette based on the number of slots on the wheel. A European wheel will have 37 slots, while an American wheel will have 38 slots. In the American wheel, a number 00 is added to the 0-36 series of a European wheel. An additional number will mean a marginal reduction of your winning chances.
There are two betting areas in general. The inside betting area comprises the individual numbers, while the outside betting area has boxes for columns, odd/even or other number combinations as well as red/black groups.
Before you start playing, you need to buy chips to wager. There are maximum and minimum bets for each table. Basically, if a minimum bet is $10, you would have to bet the minimum on either the inside or the outside betting area. You cannot distribute the minimum bet between the two areas. The betting can be done in several different patterns for each betting area. These include Straight-up bets, Split bets, Street bets, Corner or Quad bets, Basket bets, Double Street bets for the inside area, while for the outside area, you have Red Black Odd and Even bets, Dozens bet and Column bets.
The dealer spins the wheel and the ball in opposite directions. This is done so that the ball jumps while landing on a particular number. The winning number is marked with a marker that will be removed in the next spin. You can also place bets after the wheel is spun, but not after the dealer shouts 'no more bets'.
